There’s a fairly cool plugin for firefox that adds the ability to check the social news sites (digg, reddit…) from your browser with out opening them up. You should really check out Social Media for Firefox plugin. It rocks.

Over at BloggingDosh, there’s a good post on Using Forums to promote your blog. Its something that if done right can be highly valuable (as the number of possible incoming hits rises with the number of backlinks you have). It does require more than just lurking in the shadows though, in order for it to be a useful tool you DO have to engage the communities in some good dialog that would make them want to check out your site to begin with.

However, forums provide a good source of traffic and a good way to promote a post you feel is worthy of news.

If you have ever wanted to change permalinks in wordpress from index.php/archive/postid to /date/posttitle (or some other format) you were probably worried that the backlinks to any articles or posts would not match . That was a recent problem I faced with another site but then I came across Permalink-Redirect. A kick ass wordpress plugin that allows you to input your old permalink structure and it will automagically (since rewrite have always boggled my mind) redirect your visitors to the correct location.

Its a life saver for me. w00t!

Oh, yea, at least once a week I’m going to be featuring a different plugin (some I use here, some I don’t) for wordpress, so stop in and check them out, because there sure are a ton of them!
